“Gender is dead; welcome to the funeral.” So declare performers Elena Eli Belyea and Sydney Campbell at the outset of their raucously witty sketch comedy show. The duo are practiced comedians and present a barrage of sketches that are frequently funny, often hilarious, and edged with an incisive cleverness; the Pride-pandering bank and gender prison bits are particularly good. In between sketches, they take turns stepping forward to deliver earnest, introspective monologues about their experiences grappling with their own gender identity: coming out to their parents and family; feeling like they have to perform their trans identity a certain way. People of all genders can take a lot from this show – which is already selling out, so get your tickets ASAP.
