“Queer alien space cabaret” is as apt a description as any for this zany little show featuring Niuboi (Julie Ferguson), a trans non-binary alien who has come from space “to save the world from a life of blasé mundanity.” This is the essence of Fringe theatre: politically charged and socially relevant messages, campy songs (the show’s intro, “Fuck Jason Kenney”, is apt – if a bit on-the-nose), wild costumes, and a bizarre montage of video clips. The production is a bit rough and these young performers will benefit from more stage experience, but there’s also a lot of heart and some good laughs.
